This former Norwegian fishing village quietly transformed into the home of tasty microbrews, authentic restaurants, and savory donut shops.  Glassy apartment complexes gradually ease into the neighborhood replacing many single-family craftsman homes which had been landmarks in Ballard for decades.

As we see the centenarian locks are still one of Seattle’s most visited tourist attractions,  SeafoodFest in July, Viking Days in August and the Nordic Heritage Parade on 17th of May are still among the biggest events every year, we know that the Ballards of old and new are flourishing in harmony.
